Many people are concerned about purchasing a male puppy, because of the stereotypes associated with males, such as hiking their legs to mark their territory, or humping things.  if you have a male neutered between the ages of 9-10 months you will remove the normal male hormonal tendencies as mentioned above. What you will then have is an even more obedient and affectionate male.  Males tend to be more playful even in their later years.  You will love your female, but a male will be in love with you.  Females are more temperamental.  You will need to have females spayed or they can demonstrate the same traits that males do.  My females will hump and mark their territories also.  This is not to say that females are not great companions, but males make great companions also.  All puppies personalities are different regardless of their sex.  Pick a puppy for their personality not their gender.
